Use USB As Virtual RAM

Virtual RAM or Virtual Memory is an inbuilt functionality of your Windows machine. To use USB flash dirve As RAM on your Windows 10 computer Fallow bellow steps.

First Insert your Pen drive into any working USB port. Then Right click on my computer ( This PC ) select properties. Now click on Advanced system settings from the left of the Properties window.

Now move to Advanced tab from the top of System Properties window, And Click Settings button under the performance section. Again move to the Advanced tab on the Performance Options window. Then click on change button under Virtual memory.

Now uncheck option Automatically manage paging file size for all drives and select your Pen drive from the list of drives shown. Then click on Customize and Set the Value As your USB drive space.  Note : the value should be lesser than the value shown against space available.

Now click on Set and Click ok, Apply to save the changes. Then Restart windows to take effect the changes and enjoy faster system performance.

ReadyBoost Method Technology

Also, you can Use ReadyBoost method to use USB Flash Drive As RAM on your windows computer. To do this Again insert your USB drive To your system ( PC / Laptop ).




First, open My computer ( This PC ) Then locate your USB Drive and Right click on it and select properties. Now Move to ReadyBoost Tab and Select radio button against Use this device.

Now select the Value how much space you use As ReadyBoost memory ( RAM ). Then click apply, Ok To save changes and restart windows to take effect the changes.

Disconnect USB flash drive that is used for ReadyBoost?

In case you decided to stop using USB flash drive as an additional RAM or you just want to disconnect it for some reason, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Go to File Explorer.
  2. Find the needed drive in the list. Right click on it and choose its Properties.
  3. Go to ReadyBoost tab.
  4. Check on Do not use this device.

  1. Click on Apply.
  2. Disconnect the USB drive from PC safely by clicking Safely Remove Hardware in the System Tray.
