Apps Missing After recent Windows 10 upgrade? All Previous App icons go missing from the Start menu as well as Taskbar. For some Other users apps missing from the Apps & Features list in Settings. Or Apps not appearing in the Start menu / Cortana search results. And the main problem is when we try to reinstall the missing app from the windows store it’s showing the app is already installed.

After installing the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on my laptop, some apps are missing from the Start Menu on some devices. The missing apps are no longer pinned in the Start Menu, nor are they in the list of apps. If I search for the app, Cortana is not able to find it and instead points me to the Store to install it. But the Store says that the app is already installed.

Get Back Missing Apps On Windows 10

There is no specific Reason For this problem ( Apps Missing on windows 10 ), Repair windows apps from Settings, Repair or Reset the missing apps can help to get back the missing apps on windows 10. Let’s see how to get back missing apps on windows 10.

First run the System file checker utility, to make sure corrupted, missing system files not causing this issue. And run DISM command To repair the system image.

Also Check and install latest windows updates from settings -> update & security -> windows update -> check for updates. May with the latest updates windows download and install the missing, corrupted app.

Install System optimizer Tool Like CCleaner And run it for clean junk, Cache, Windows Error files, etc. And scan Fix Broken Registry Errors Restart windows and check Apps are on normal State if not apply next solution.

Reset apps via Settings

This is the recommended method to get back missing apps on windows 10. With the Fall Creators Update, Microsoft added an option to repair or Reset the windows apps to default setup. If any specific Apps causing the issue or missing then the Repair or Reset option is a handful solution.

Simply press Windows + I to open settings -> apps -> Apps & features scroll down and find the name of the affected app ( For Ex windows store ). Click the app and select Advanced options.

A new window opens, Scroll down and click on the Reset option. This will clear app data and refresh it to its default setup. Once the reset is completed, Restart windows now the app should again appear in the app list and can be pinned to the Start Menu. Repeat these steps for all other affected apps.

Reinstall the missing apps

This is another way to get back missing apps, simply uninstall the affected apps via Apps & Features and then reinstall them from the Windows Store.

Open Settings, and select Apps, Here On the Apps & features tab, find the name of the missing app. Click the app and select Uninstall. Now Open Windows Store and then reinstall the missing app. Once installed, the app should appear in the app list and can be pinned to the Start Menu.

Re-register all built-in Windows 10 apps

If the above methods fail to fix or have an issue with a number of apps Then Rep-register all Built-in Windows 10 Apps is very helpful to fix. Especially if every built-in Windows 10 app is affected, Rep-register them to give a fresh startup.

Open Power shell as administrator, you can do this by Right click on the start menu and select Windows PowerShell ( admin ). Now Type ( Copy and paste ) the following command on the PowerShell window and hit enter key to execute the command.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register “$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode}

Re-register the missing apps using PowerShell

It’ll reinstall and re-register all default built-in apps in Windows 10. Restart your computer and now you should be able to access all installed apps from Start Menu and Cortana search box.
