Today part of the April 2024 patch Tuesday Update, Microsoft released a new set of security updates for all supported devices including Windows 10 and Windows 11. This latest patch update currently rolling out to everyone via Windows Update which downloads and installs automatically on your device. Microsoft has also published direct download links for Windows 11 and Windows 10 update offline installers on the Update Catalog. The following two updates are now available for Windows 11 devices:
- Windows 11 KB5036893 for Version 23H2 (OS build 22631.3447) and 22H2 (OS Build 22621.3447)
- Windows 11 KB5036894 for Version 21H1 (OS Build 22000.2899)
The following three updates are now available for Windows 10 devices:

April 2024 patch update what’s new?
As usual, Patch Tuesday brings both security and non-security improvements, so users will be recommended to install them as soon as possible. Additionally, vulnerabilities would be resolved in other products too, including Microsoft Office and other products.
In terms of security, These cumulative updates typically bring fixes for Windows Shell, the Windows User Account Control, the Windows Kernel, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge Legacy. As for the non-security refinements in these updates, each of them comes with bug fixes aimed at the Windows version they are supposed to be installed on.
Windows 11 KB5036893 advance build number 22631.3447 for version 23H2 and 22621.3447 for version 22H2. This update includes April 2024 patch updates and enables Moment 5 features for everyone and also introduces several notable improvements and fixes, including:
- IT administrators can now utilize mobile device management (MDM) to disable the sign-in prompt on Entra-joined machines for Windows Hello for Business.
- The Remote Desktop Session Host receives an improvement with the ability to configure its “clipboard redirection” policy to work in a single direction, either from the local computer to the remote computer or vice versa.
- Furthermore, users in the European Economic Area will notice search highlights added to the taskbar search box, enhancing their search experience. However, this feature might not be immediately available to all users as it will roll out gradually.
- This update also addresses some specific issues, including certain Neural Processing Units (NPUs) not appearing in Task Manager, and Notepad failing to print to certain Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) printers when using a print support app.
- Lastly, users experiencing unstable Bluetooth connections with wireless earbuds, particularly on devices with firmware from April 2023 and later, will benefit from the stability fix included in this update.
Windows 10 KB5036892, advance OS Build 19045.4291, and introduces two new features. The first one, adds Windows Spotlight to your desktop background, which downloads and rotates images for your wallpaper. The second one is related lock screen, Microsoft will also now show more information on the Windows 10 lock screen, including weather, sports, traffic, and finance content.
This update addresses several key issues and introduces new features to enhance the Windows experience:
- Touch Keyboard Issue Fix: Resolves the intermittent problem where the touch keyboard fails to open.
- Windows 11 Upgrade Message: Upon sign-in, eligible users may now receive a prompt inviting them to upgrade to Windows 11.
- New Feature for Windows Hello for Business: IT administrators can now leverage mobile device management (MDM) to disable the sign-in prompt on Entra-joined machines. By enabling the “DisablePostLogonProvisioning” policy setting, provisioning is turned off for both Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices after user sign-in.
- Taskbar Search Box Enhancement for European Economic Area: Introduces search highlights to the taskbar search box for users in the European Economic Area. Further details are available through Windows Search providers.

How to download the latest Windows updates
There is a Windows Update service to download and install the latest updates on your system, as well as to device drivers and other Microsoft software. That means every Windows 10 or Windows 11 update can download and install via Windows update. You need a stable working internet connection to download Windows updates from the Microsoft server.

- You have to select the correct version after verifying your system configurations from Settings > System > About.
- Finally, Click the Download button and a popup window will appear. In the popup window, click the .msu file link to download it.
